DES MOINES, Iowa - The Capital City Go-Go edged the Iowa Wolves, 106-102, on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.
Each team was led by NBA assignment players as Hamidou Diallo of the Washington Wizards scored a game-high 29 points for Capital City Go-Go (6-4). On assignment from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Josh Minott paced Iowa (2-8) with 24 points.
Capital City trailed Iowa, 76-69, entering the fourth quarter. The Go-Go ripped off a 16-6 scoring run that flipped the game and forced the Wolves to play catch up. After falling behind by eight, Minott scored five consecutive points to pull Iowa within two with 34.4 seconds to go.
Iowa then forced a Diallo miss as Javonte Cooke collected the rebound. With no timeouts left, the Wolves pushed the ball down and Cooke had an open look from the right wing that hit the back of the rim as the Go-Go gathered the miss and made their free throws down the stretch to hold on.
Cooke finished with 17 points and D.J. Carton added 21 points and 11 assists.
Devon Dotson scored 19 points for the Go-Go and Michael Foster Jr. had 17.
Capital City forced 16 turnovers by Iowa, which led to 26 points. The Go-Go committed 15 turnovers but Iowa only converted 14 points off the miscues.
Iowa stays at home as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers visit Tuesday night at 7 p.m. CT.
