
Skyforce Outlasts Charge in Double Overtime Thriller

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Canton Charge 117-111 in double overtime Saturday night in front of 4,396 fans. Sioux Fall surrendered a 21-point lead in the fourth quarter but picked up the win to move into the seventh spot in the playoff race.
After an even first quarter, Sioux Falls (23-21) outscored Canton 33-18 in the second quarter to take a 55-42 halftime lead. Demetris Nichols and Mychel Thompson each scored 12 points in the first half.
Sioux Falls led 86-66 after three quarters and went ahead by 21 points (93-72) on a Seth Tarver jumper with 9:19 to go in regulation. Canton (27-18) responded with a 19-3 run to get within five points (96-91) with 4:43 left. Sioux Falls went ahead 101-93 following an Andre Barrett 3-pointer but Kyle Gibson scored eight straight points to tie the game at 101 with 31.9 seconds to go. After Barrett missed a long jumper, Gibson missed a 10-foot fadeaway at the buzzer and the game went into overtime.
Both teams scored four points in the first overtime and Gibson had another chance to win the game but his running jump shot from 12 feet out missed at the buzzer. Sioux Falls outscored Canton 12-6 in the second overtime to get the crucial win and snap a four-game home losing streak.
Nichols scored a game-high 32 points to go along with nine rebounds. Thompson added 21 points off the bench and Andre Barrett narrowly missed a triple-double with 16 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
Gibson scored a team-high 24 points behind 6-of-7 3-pointers while Jorge Gutierrez had a solid all-around game with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in a reserve role. Arinze Onuaku contributed a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Sioux Falls visits Austin Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. CT. Canton visits Springfield the same night at 7 p.m. ET.
