Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

SOUTHAVEN, MS - The Sioux Falls Skyforce (7-1) got back into the win column with a 116-108 victory over the Memphis Hustle (3-3) on Saturday night at the Landers Center. Sioux Falls has now accounted for two of Memphis' three losses on the season.

The Hustle flew out of the gate, building a 13-point lead early in the first quarter behind a hot start from Brandon Goodwin (28 points and eight rebounds) who scored 10 points in the quarter. Sioux Falls slowly began to chip away at the lead, and eventually took its first lead of the night on a Malik Newman fast-break layup, part of what was a personal 7-2 run for Newman in the second quarter.

Another big performance from Miami HEAT two-way player Yante Maten (28 points, seven rebounds and three blocks) was accompanied by an outstanding game by Briante Weber (20 points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds), who converted on 9-of-11 field goals in the victory.

Memphis Grizzlies assignee Jevon Carter (22 points, six rebounds and five assists) stuffed the stat sheet yet again for the Hustle while Markel Crawford (15 points) and Kyle Casey (10 points) combined for 25 points off the Memphis bench in the loss.

Contrary to their previous two road games, the Skyforce capitalized on both free throws (30-of-35) and points in the paint (54) to overcome what started as another rough shooting performance from outside.

Raphiael Putney (14 points and 10 rebounds) recorded his fourth double-double of the season alongside Miami HEAT two-way player Duncan Robinson (14 points) who returned from the NBA for his first game with Sioux Falls since its previous matchup with Memphis back on Monday, November 5.

DeAndre Liggins (13 points, six assists and five rebounds) and Rodney Purvis (13 points) joined in to round out the bulk of the offensive production for a Skyforce team that saw six players score in double figures and eight players score at least seven points in the victory.

Memphis Grizzlies two-way players Yuta Watanabe (nine points and seven rebounds) and DJ Stephens (six points) were held in check for much of the game, though Stephens left in the first half with an injury and did not return.

The Skyforce now return home to face the South Bay Lakers in what will be a back-to-back home stand on Friday and Saturday, November 23 and 24. Meanwhile, the Hustle stay in the midst of a six-game home stand, next visited by the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Wednesday, November 21.
