Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends (3-3) handed the Oklahoma City Blue (5-1) their first loss of the season 108-105 Friday night in Frisco.
Oklahoma City started off hot, going up 7-0 initially and leading 26-9 at the four minute mark. Texas warmed up in the final four minutes and went on a 19-4 run to take the largest lead of the night down to a two-point differential. The second quarter stayed close with six lead changes and five ties before the Blue hit a 10-2 streak to finish the half up 62-54.
The visitors spread the gap back to double digits early in the third, but Texas took advantage of a hot streak outside and regained the lead with five threes for a 29-17 quarter. The Legends maintained control through most of the final minutes but the Blue stayed within reach throughout the final stretch. With three minutes to play, Dez Wells hit three straight to put OKC back on top, but Jameel Warney answered immediately with the home team's final push to the finish.
Texas shot a season-high 41% from outside and held the Blue to their second-lowest score of the season to even the series at 1-1. Daryl Macon led the Legends with 26 points and 6 assists while Xavier Johnson came off the bench for a team-high 8 rebounds. Rashad Vaughn added 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks, and Warney (14 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals), Kostas Antetokounmpo (14 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks), and Justin Tubbs (11 points, 1 rebound) all landed in the double-digit scorers' column.
Wells led the Blue's scoring efforts with 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists while Tyler Davis (19 points, 18 rebounds) and Richard Solomon (20 points, 11 rebounds) each grabbed double-doubles. Scotty Hopson came off the bench to add 16 points and 4 rebounds.
Texas will travel to Iowa Sunday to take on the Wolves at 4pm CT before returning home to host the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday at 7pm. For tickets or information call 214-469-0822 or visit www.TexLegends.com.
