Skye Bolt Ends Aces Win Streak in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada - The Reno Aces saw their longest win streak of the season come to an end tonight in Las Vegas. Riding a five-game win streak, Taylor Widener made the start for Chris Cron tonight in game two of the five-game series. Widener turned in another strong performance going five innings of two-run baseball with nine strikeouts. Down 2-0 in the top of the fifth inning, the red-hot Domingo Leyba crushed his third home run of the series to tie the game at two. Reno took the lead in the top of the seventh inning on an Abraham Almonte sacrifice fly ball. Stefan Crichton, optioned to Triple-A Reno just days ago was called on to pitch the seventh and eighth. Crichton was perfect in both of his innings before turning it over to Lucas Luetge in the 9th. Sky Bolt ended the Aces night with a walk-off single scoring Chris Herrmann to make it 4-3. The loss sends the Aces to an overall record of 37-45 with seven games remaining before the All-Star break.

Let's Go Streaking: Travis Snider extended his hit streak to 10 games with a 1-for-3 performance tonight. However, what is even more impressive is that he extended his on-base streak to 28 straight games. His streak started on May 25th against Las Vegas. Since then he's gone 36-for-98 (.367) with 24 BB, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 17 R, 8 2B while holding a .494 on-base percentage.

Widener's K's: Taylor Widener has been a strikeout machine in 2019. Widener is the team leader with 87 in 17 total starts. Tonight, Widener tied his season-best of nine strikeouts. He has punched out five or more batters in five consecutive starts and eight of his last 10. With his 8th strikeout tonight Widener surpassed the 450-strikeout mark in his career. He is now 13 K's away from 100 on the season.

Big Bank: With the Denver Nuggets signing of Jamal Murray (five-year, $170M maximum contract extension), NBA players have earned over $3 billion in new money given out today alone. Murray attended the University of Kentucky during the 2015-16. Kentucky went 28-10 including tournament play. Travis Snider has reached base in 28 consecutive games.
