Iowa Cubs News Release

SAN ANTONIO, TX - The Iowa Cubs (48-33) got another quality start from Alec Mills and beat the San Antonio Missions (51-33) by a score of 5-3 Monday night at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium.

Iowa jumped on Bubba Derby in the second inning for two runs via a Robel Garcia RBI double and a Mills RBI single. Mills took over from there on the mound, allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings pitched.

The righty matched his season-high previously done twice with seven strikeouts and spun his fourth quality start in his last five starts for Iowa.

A solo home run from Phillip Evans and a two-run blast from Taylor Davis gave the I-Cubs all the offense they needed to get the win.

San Antonio added a run in the eighth and ninth, but James Norwood earned his fourth save of the season with a five-out, four-strikeout effort to slam the door.

POSTGAME NOTES:

- With the victory, Iowa improved to 30-13 on the road this season.

- Jim Adduci extended his hitting streak to five games with a single in the second and extended his multi-hit streak to three straight games with another single in the eighth.

Iowa and San Antonio will meet for game four of the five-game set tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Follow the action on AM 940, TuneIn Radio or www.iowacubs.com.
