Despite a late rally attempt from the Oklahoma City RedHawks (45-41), the Colorado Springs Sky Sox edged their division rival, 9-7, Tuesday night.

Through six innings, the Sky Sox held an 8-2 lead with both the offense and pitching cruising, before Oklahoma City's offense picked up steam in the seventh with three straight singles to lead off the inning off RHP Greg Burke. Burke allowed three runs to score after he hit a batter to score one and walked two batters in, before RHP Chris Martin came in to get Ronny Torreyes to fly out to Kyle Parker who made a sliding grab.

However, just like Burke, Martin's second inning of work was a little bumpy after he allowed two runs to score, though only one was earned after an error allowed a run to score.

The Sky Sox tacked on an insurance run in the eighth to take a two-run lead. Glenallen Hill turned to RHP Brooks Brown to come on to record his sixth save of the year. Brown got two quick outs, before allowing a double, but no harm was done as he got Carlos Perez to ground out sharply to Rafael Ynoa at short.

Despite allowing OKC to score first in the top frame, Juan Nicasio (2-1) recorded a solid outing, tossing five innings, allowing just two runs on five hits, while striking out four, though he did walk four.

Trailing 1-0 early, the Sky Sox offense came alive in the second thanks to four consecutive hits to begin the inning, including doubles by Tim Wheeler and Jackson Williams. The Sky Sox scored four in the inning to take the lead, including a nice bunt pulled down the first base line by Drew Garcia to score a run.

Every Sky Sox player recorded a hit in the game with Nolan Arenado leading the way with three hits in his fourth rehab game. Along with Wheeler's and Williams' doubles, the Sky Sox recorded three more thanks to Ben Paulsen, Evan Frey and Arenado. Frey lead both teams with three RBI on the night - his second three-hit affair this season.

Also notching a hit was Garcia to extend his league-high hitting streak to 14 games. He's hitting .392 (20-for-51) during his streak.

In his scheduled appearance, LHP Boone Logan faced one left-handed batter, as planned, and got Preston Tucker to ground into a 4-6-3 double play in the sixth inning.

For the RedHawks, RHP David Martinez (5-6) was roughed up as he allowed eight runs on 11 hits in his four innings of work.

Offensively, Perez led the way with a four-hit night - all singles. Max Stassi collected three hits, including a ninth-inning double off of Brown.

With the series tied at one game apiece, the Sky Sox will play behind rehabbing LHP Brett Anderson on Wednesday against the RedHawks. RHP Mike Foltynewicz (6-5, 4.40 ERA) is scheduled to start for OKC. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
