Isotopes, Chihuahuas Postponed by Inclement Weather Tuesday Night

As thunderstorms and rain pelted the El Paso area Tuesday night, the Albuquerque Isotopes (38-46) and El Paso Chihuahuas (40-45) were postponed due to inclement weather at Southwest University Park.

As a breed, the Chihuahua is not known as a great swimmer causing even more concern for the newcomers to the Pacific Coast League.

The Isotopes and Chihuahuas will play a doubleheader beginning at 5:05 p.m. MT Wednesdayevening. Both games will be seven innings.

Albuquerque currently leads the series after winning the first game 8-6 on Monday. The Topes scored five runs in the final three frames to complete their third-straight come-from-behind victory. The doubleheader on Wednesday willalso be the Isotopes fourth twin bill in the 17 days leading up to the All-Star break.

Right-handed pitcher Red Patterson (3-6, 4.81 ERA) is expected to start the first game of the doubleheader for Albuquerque, while El Paso will go with righty Michael Nix (3-2, 5.10 ERA). In the second game, right-hander Carlos Frias (6-4, 4.73 ERA) will take the ball for the Topes, and the Chihuahuas will go with right-hander Donn Roach (1-1, 3.42 ERA)

The Isotopes return home Friday to host the division-leading Las Vegas 51s beginning at 6:05 p.m. Fans will be treated to post-game fireworks presented by U.S. Bank (weather permitting) to kick of the Independence Day weekend festivities. Post-game fireworks presented by Cricket Wireless (weather permitting) will also follow Saturday's second game of the split doubleheader beginning at 7:05 p.m., and fans need a separate ticket for each game.
