INF/OF Brock Peterson Joins Isotopes

Infielder/outfielder Brock Peterson joined the Albuquerque Isotopes following the first game of a doubleheader at El Paso this evening, and in a corresponding move, outfielder Jeremy Hazelbaker was sent to Double-A Chattanooga

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Peterson from the Washington Nationals for cash considerations on Tuesday. The 30-year-old Peterson began the season with Triple-A Syracuse and hit .250 with 11 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 31 RBI. This will mark Peterson's second stint in the Pacific Coast League after playing a combined 143 gameswith Memphis in 2012 and 2013. In 12 Minor League seasons, he is hitting .272 with 249 doubles, 28 triples, 177 homers and 700 RBI. Peterson made his Major League debut on July 20, 2013, and appeared in 23 games with the St. Louis Cardinals. He picked up two hits and two RBI.

The Isotopes are happy to seePeterson in an Albuquerque jersey. During the 2013 season, he hit six of his PCL-leading 25 home runs against the Topes, including two multi-homer games and a walk-off blast.

Hazelbaker appeared in 21 games, batting .230 with three doubles, two triples, four home runs and 11 RBI. He's already played in 46 games for Chattanooga this season, hitting .285 with five doubles, seven triples, three home runs and 23 RBI.

Albuquerque won the first game of the doubleheader 5-4 against the El Paso Chihuahuas.
