Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox (36-38) moved past the Salt Lake Bees (36-39) and took sole possession of second place in the Pacific Northern Division by winning three of four games from the division rival in the series, with the Sox stamping the series win by crushing the Bees 15-5 behind monster performances by outfielders Andrew Brown and Matt McBride.

Andrew Brown came in to the game leading Colorado Springs in RBI and had totaled six RBI in the first three games of the series with Salt Lake but the Sox slugger knocked in six runs in the series finale alone, a team-high for any Sox player in a game this season, with three RBI coming on his 11th homer of the season. Brown has gone deep in three consecutive games and has collected multiple RBI in four straight games, and is one of only three players in the Pacific Coast League with 60 or more RBI on the season. Brown leads all Triple-A hitters with 56 RBI since the beginning of May, a span of 46 games.

Brown was a triple away from the cycle in the game, but leftfielder Matt McBride also was a three-bagger away from a cycle himself as the team leader in hits led the Sky Sox with four hits in the game to go along with four RBI, hitting his sixth homer on the season and a pair of doubles in the game. McBride is the first Sky Sox player to reach 80 hits on the year and leads the team with 24 doubles. The Sky Sox upped their PCL-leading doubles total in the month of June to 65 by totaling four doubles in the game, the sixth consecutive game they have racked up at least three doubles, and hit three homers as a team for only the second time this season.

The Sky Sox have amassed 53 runs and 74 hits in their last five games, going 4-1 during that stretch, and have reached the double-digit hit mark nine times in their last eleven games. The win moves the Sox in to second place for the first time since May 30, and evens the record with Salt Lake on the season at 4-4 after their first two meetings of the season.

The Sky Sox now welcome the Tacoma Rainiers to Security Service Field for the Rainiers first appearance at Colorado Springs this season, after the two teams split their first meeting in Tacoma in early April. In the first game of the series, the Sky Sox will face the Seattle Mariners top prospect in left-hander Danny Hultzen, who will be making his Triple-A debut, at 6:05 p.m. MT.
