
Las Vegas wins 11-6 over Tucson

The Las Vegas 51s scored five times in the top of the seventh inning Friday in their 11-6 victory over the Tucson Padres. The 51s sent 10 batters to the plate in the rally and chased reliever Josh Spence from the game after Spence recorded only one out. Las Vegas won three of the four games in the series and now holds a nine games to two advantage over the T-Pads in the season series.
The Padres had a productive inning of their own Friday, with a nine-batter, five-run third. Yasmani Grandal hit a two-run double in the rally, one of his three hits on the night. Anthony Contreras went 3-for-4 with a walk and has 13 hits in his last 20 at bats. Tucson starter Matt Palmer pitched six innings and allowed six runs on 10 hits. Jason Ray threw his second scoreless outing of the series after missing 20 days with a biceps injury. Clint Everts picked up his first win of the season after pitching three innings of scoreless relief for Las Vegas.
The Padres are 23-51, in fourth place in the Pacific Conference Southern Division, 23 games out of first place. Las Vegas moved a half game closer to the top of the Southern Division, now sitting four games behind first place Sacramento.
