TACOMA, Wash.-Mike Jacobs homered in the fifth inning Thursday night, but that was all the offense the Aces could muster, as Reno dropped a 9-1 decision to Tacoma at Cheney Stadium, halting a 16-game winning streak for the Aces over the Rainiers.

Tacoma pushed across two runs in the first and two more in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. Jacobs' solo homer in the fifth cut the deficit to three, but Reno would get no closer.

The Aces loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh, then again with two outs in the eighth, but failed to convert either opportunity.

The defeat marked the first time a Reno club has lost to Tacoma since July 8, 2011.

Aces starter Patrick Corbin (3-2) took the loss, surrendering four runs on eight hits over six innings. Corbin walked just one and struck out eight. After his exit, Chris Jakubauskas worked a scoreless seventh, before Taylor Sinclair allowed five runs in the eighth.

Tacoma starter Blake Beavan (1-0) picked-up the victory, scattering a run on nine hits over seven frames. Scott Patterson earned the save.

At the plate for Reno, Adam Eaton and A.J. Pollock collected two hits apiece. Eaton now has reached base safely in 35-straight games, but he failed to score a run for the first time since May 29.

The Aces and Rainiers close out the series on Friday night at Cheney Stadium. RHP Charles Brewer (3-4, 5.50 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, while Tacoma will counter with RHP Brian Sweeney (2-1, 3.92 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports Radio 630 AM in Reno or by visiting RenoAces.com.

The Aces will return home on Wednesday, June 27 to kick-off a seven-game homestand against the Fresno Grizzlies and Las Vegas 51s. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
