Sugar Land Space Cowboys News Release
(EL PASO, Texas) - The Sugar Land Skeeters continued their offensive onslaught against the El Paso Chihuahuas on Monday night with a 10-1 win.
Jose Siri and Michael Papierski each hit two-run home runs, a night after the Skeeters scored a franchise-record 24 runs in Sunday's win.
Siri finished the game 2-for-2, reaching base in four-of-four plate appearances to score four runs, setting the Skeeters' season high. He's also homered in back-to-back games.
The Skeeters scored four runs in the first on an RBI double from CJ Hinojosa, two-run double from Papierski and RBI double from JJ Matijevic.
Siri hit his two-run homer in the third and Papierski followed in the fourth inning with his two-run blast. Papierski finished the night 4-for-5 with four RBIs, giving him a season-high in hits and RBIs. He's just the third Skeeters player to log a four-hit game this season, with all three occasions happening over the last two games.
Hinojosa struck again for an RBI single in the fifth inning. He finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Miguelangel Sierra drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning to make it a 10-0 Skeeters lead.
Skeeters starter Chad Donato tossed two scoreless innings and right-hander Seth Martinez came in directly after, following up with four scoreless frames of his own. Martinez struck out four and did not allow a hit through his four innings to pick up the winning decision.
The Chihuahuas scored their only run of the night in the eighth inning on a bases-loaded walk from Patrick Kivlehan.
El Paso starter Jesse Schotens took the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits through three innings. Right-hander Evan Miller came on in relief and surrendered four runs on eight hits through three.
The Skeeters finish their series off in El Paso at 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday night. The Skeeters have yet to name their starter, while El Paso will start with right-hander Caleb Boushley.
