Sixers Stop Storm for Third Straight Night

Lake Elsinore, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino made it three wins in a row over Lake Elsinore (6-5) and four-of-five in the six-game set with a 9-3 win at the Diamond on Saturday. The 66ers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the second and added on late while the bullpen held serve.

Jeremy Arocho got the 66ers on the board in the second with a two-run single to center against Storm starter Levi Thomas (0-1). The 66ers (6-4) made it a big inning later in the frame when Jeremiah Jackson banged a three-run double off the wall in right center, the first of his pair of two-baggers on the night and a 5-0 lead. Sixers' starter Adam Seminaris left the game in the second with injury and the Storm touched IE reliever Dakota Donovan for three runs highlighted by Matthew Acosta's two-run triple. Donovan settled in and finished with five Ks and no walks in three innings. Justin Courtney (1-0) followed Donovan and tossed three shutout frames giving up three hits and no walks with six Ks; the University of Maine product was credited with the win in his pro debut. Jose Reyes, finished with a three-hit game for IE in his return that included a double and two RBI. Kyren Paris finished 2-for-2 with three walks reaching base in all five of his plate appearances. Jhosua Alcantara tossed two scoreless innings to finish off the Storm. The 66ers were 5-for-16 with runners in scoring position while the Storm were 1-for-10.
