Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Tacoma, WA - Facing a mid-game deficit and staring at a third consecutive series loss, the Isotopes bats awoke at the most opportune of times. Albuquerque plated six runs in the sixth inning to turn a 5-3 deficit into a 9-5 lead, and that ended up being the final score on Sunday afternoon at Cheney Stadium.

Right fielder Trevor Boone had the biggest hit of the day, a three-run triple in the middle of the sixth inning rally. Jimmy Herron and Hunter Stovall also bookended the explosion with home runs.

Topes Scope:

- Seven of Albuquerque's nine hits went for extra bases, their fourth most in a contest and most since May 16 when they compiled a team-record tying 13 vs. Tacoma.

- Albuquerque plated six or more runs in a frame for the sixth time this season. It was their biggest inning since a six-run fourth on May 27 vs. Round Rock.

- Boone legged out two triples, the 22nd time in Isotopes history a player has recorded a pair of three-baggers in a contest. He has six triples for the season, all coming in his last 19 games and two have come with the bases loaded.

- Aaron Schunk gave Albuquerque an early lead with a two-run double, the third time he produced a run-scoring hit in the opening frame against the Rainiers this year. He launched a grand slam at home on May 21 and singled home a run this past Tuesday.

- Schunk's two doubles tied a season high for an Isotopes batter, done on 12 previous occassions, most recently Cole Tucker Thursday in Tacoma.

- Herron was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. It marked his 15th multi-hit game and ninth long ball of the year, first since June 8 vs. Sugar Land.

- Stovall connected on his fourth clout of the season, including his third in the last 13 ballgames.

- Yonathan Daza saw his nine-game hitting streak come to an end. He was 11-for-33 with three doubles and four walks during the stretch, but only one multi-hit contest.

- Daniel Cope's hitting streak ended at eight in a row, which tied his career best. He slashed .379/.406/.586 with two homers and seven RBI during the stretch.

- Ty Blach earned the victory with 3.1 innings of one-hit, scoreless ball in relief, continuing a run of excellent work on the mound. In his last nine games (three starts), Blach is 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA (4 ER/26 IP) to go along with six walks and 25 strikeouts.

- Riley Pint worked into and out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth, and has not allowed a run across eight innings (five outings) in June. He has struck out 13 batters during the stretch.

- Isotopes hurlers struck out 63 batters during the week, their most in a series this season. On the other hand, their 17 walks issued were the second-fewest in a six-game set, only one behind 16 given up at Las Vegas from May 9-14.

- Tacoma hit just three home runs, the least amount surrendered by Isotopes pitching in a six-game set this year.

- Albuquerque starting pitchers did not allow a run during the first inning in 10 of 12 meetings against Tacoma this season.

- The Isotopes and Rainiers split each six-game series they played this season, with the road team earning a victory to force the stalemate on Sunday both times.

- Each team was 0-for-3 in challenging pitches. Tacoma ran out of challenges in the sixth inning and the Isotopes suffered the same fate in the eighth.

On Deck: The Isotopes travel to Reno for the first time since 2021, as they start a six-game series against the Aces on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. MT (12:05 PT). Neither team has announced a starting pitcher.
