Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators were not able to overcome a rough first inning in a 7-2 loss at Richmond on Monday night.

The 15th different starter of 2014 for the Senators, Scott McGregor, walked the first five batters he faced to make it 2-0, Richmond, in the first inning. McGregor then allowed a two-run double, pushing Richmond's lead to 4-0, and was replaced by Colin Bates. Bates allowed both of the runners he inherited from McGregor to score on an RBI single and an RBI groundout. Bates escaped further damage in the first and then went on to pitch four scoreless innings. Paul Demny allowed six hits and two walks in three innings, but just one of the runners crossed the plate.

The Senators first scored in the top of the third when Matt Skole drove in Caleb Ramsey with an RBI single. The run batted in was Skole's 23rd RBI in the month of June. The Senators scored again in the seventh when Michael Taylor was able to trot home from third when Richmond's Edwin Quirarte balked. Cutter Dykstra (3-for-4) and Caleb Ramsey (2-for-4, run) both had multi-hit games. Drew Vettleson (2-for-4) also had a solid game in his first game with Harrisburg since April 13 due to injury.

Right-hander Brett Brach takes the hill tomorrow night for the Senators with a 6:35 p.m. start at The Diamond in Richmond. The Flying Squirrels will send lefty Jack Snodgrass to the mound. The game can be heard beginning with the pregame show at 6:20 p.m. on 1460 AM or via senatorsbaseball.com, 1460theticket.com or the iHeart Radio app.

The Senators box office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tickets are available via telephone during the same hours as the box office hours.
