
Lavin and Fightins out-hit B-Mets in loss

Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils (33-40) have lost seven straight games as they fell to the Binghamton Mets (44-32) 12-8 on Monday night despite out-hitting them. Jesse Biddle allowed a career high 10 runs in 3 innings and Peter Lavin fell short of a getting a cycle by not getting a single.
Peter Lavin hit a solo home run off Rainy Lara in the top of the first inning to give the Fightins an early 1-0 lead. Jake Fox followed up with a RBI single to score Aaron Altherr who doubled before him to give Reading a 2-0 lead.
Binghamton came back in the bottom of the first inning and scored six runs off Jesse Biddle to take a 6-2 lead. Biddle loaded up the bases with one out as he issued three walks. Jayce Boyd and Darrell Ceciliani hit consecutive RBI singles to tie the game for Binghamton. Dustin Lawley hit a sacrifice fly to give the B-Mets a 3-2 lead then Travis Taijeron hit a three-run home run to extend the lead.
The B-Mets added more in the bottom of the 2nd inning off Biddle as Dilson Herrara hit a RBI double to score Juan Lagares and Brian Burgamy with a two-run home run to take a 9-2 lead.
Brock Stassi hit a RBI single off Rainy Lara in the top of the 3rd inning to score Peter Lavin and put the Fightins within six runs, 9-3. The B-Mets scored another run off Biddle in the bottom of the 3rd inning as Juan Lagares hit a RBI single to score Travis Taijeron to take a 10-3 lead. Jesse Biddle left after three innings of work. He allowed 10 runs off eight hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Peter Lavin hit a two-run triple off reliever Hamilton Bennett in the top of the 4th inning to put the Fightins within five runs, 10-5. Rainy Lara left after 3 2/3 innings in which he allowed four runs. Brian Burgamy hit a solo home run off Ryan O'Sullivan in the bottom of the 4th inning to give the B-Mets a 11-5 lead. The home run by Burgamy was his second of the game.
Jake Fox hit a solo home run off Bennett in the top of the 5th inning to put Reading within five runs, 11-6. Dustin Lawley hit a solo home run off O'Sullivan in the bottom of the 5th inning to give Binghamton a 12-6 lead.
Carlos Alonso hit a two-run double to score Aaron Altherr and Jake Fox in the top of the 7th inning off Jack Leathersich to put Reading within four runs, 12-8. Ryan O'Sullivan left the game after three innings of work. He allowed two runs off two hits with one walk.
Seth Rosin pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. He walked two batters while recording one strikeouts. Matt Hoffman faced Brian Burgamy in the bottom of the 8th inning and got him to fly-out to right field.
The Fightin Phils and Binghamton Mets meet again on Tuesday night at NYSEG Stadium at 6:35 pm. Reading will have Severino Gonzalez (4-8, 5.07 ERA) on the mound.
