TOLEDO, OH- Kent Simpson is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

The 20-year-old posted his first professional shutout on Thursday, stopping all 20 shots in the Toledo Walleye's 2-0 win at Cincinnati. In his three appearances, Simpson went 3-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.67 goals-against average and a .975 save percentage. He had 29 saves on Friday in a 4-1 victory against Elmira and ended the week with 30 saves in a 2-1 win against Reading on"ˆSaturday.

A native of Edmonton,"ˆAlberta, Simpson has appeared in 25 games with"ˆToledo this season posting an overall record of 12-9-3 with one shutout, a 2.51 goals-against average and a save percentage of .901. He has won each of his last four starts, allowing one goal or less in each of those outings, and is 5-1-0 in his last six appearances. Since the start of January, Simpson has a 5-2-0-1 record, a 1.87 GAA and a .929 SVP. He also has appeared in one game with"ˆRockford of the American"ˆHockey League.

Selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the second round (58th overall) of the 2010 NHL"ˆEntry Draft, Simpson spent the previous four seasons with Everett of Western"ˆHockey League where he saw action in 175 career games with a record of 71-71-21 with six shutouts, a 3.02 goals-against average and a save percentage of .911.

Toledo hits the road for a pair of games down south. They return home for Hockey Heritage Weekend in Toledo on Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17.
