LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Las Vegas Wranglers held off the Colorado Eagles' comeback attempt for a 4-2 win in a scheduled late-night contest as part of Las Vegas' annual "Over 18 Night." The teams entered the game with identical point totals on the season, but Collin Bowman's two third period goals weren't enough for Colorado to overcome Las Vegas' 3-0 lead, and an empty-netter helped the Wranglers move ahead of the Eagles in the Western Conference standings.

As usual when the Eagles & Wranglers meet, the first period saw plenty of wide open, back-and-forth action, however neither team was able to beat the opposing netminder. Adam Brown stopped six shots -- highlighted by a glove save against All-Star Chris Francis on an odd-man rush just minutes in -- while Joe Fallon stopped 12 shots.

Colorado continued to out-shoot Las Vegas in the second period 14-10, but the home team proved opportunistic in netting all three of the period's goals. The Wranglers opened the scoring four minutes into the frame following a turnover deep in the Eagles' zone that led to a chance for Scott Pitt on the doorstep.

Las Vegas doubled their lead at 12:21 with a power-play goal when Andrew Sarauer redirected a back-door pass from Charlie Cook past Brown. And with just over a minute left in the second stanza -- moments after the Eagles killed off a Wranglers power play -- Sarauer picked up his second goal in a row from the low slot by deflecting a Channing Boe point shot into the net to make it 3-0.

The Eagles came out with a strong push in the third, but still couldn't get a puck past Fallon until 16 and a half minutes had elapsed in the final frame. After Trent Daavettila made a nice play to keep the puck in the offensive zone at the left point, Bowman was able to poke it home from the doorstep to get the Eagles on the scoreboard.

And just over two minutes later -- with an extra attacker on the ice -- Bowman made things interesting with another tally when he blasted a shot home from the point with a one-timer from Kevin Ulanski. However, Sean Wiles was able to ice the game with just six seconds left by sending the puck into the Eagles' empty net from center ice.

Colorado will return home for a three-game set against the Fort Wayne Komets on Wednesday, Friday & Saturday.
