Reign Claim Defenseman Tommy Fitzpatrick

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, announced they have picked up rookie defenseman Tommy Fitzpatrick off waivers from South Carolina.

Fitzpatrick, 25, joins the Reign after a brief, six-game stint with the Stingrays. Prior to the Stingrays the Fort McMurray, Alberta native began the season with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the SPHL. He appeared in 27 games with the Cottonmouths and recorded 5 points (1g, 4a) and 21 penalty minutes.

Fitzpatrick made his professional debut after a four year collegiate career between Marian University (MCHA), for three seasons, and Brock University (OUAA), for one season. Through four years he played in 91 games, scored 14 goals and assisted on 66 for 80 points.

From 2000-08 the 6-foot-2, 195-pound blue liner played junior hockey with Lindsay Muskies (OPJHL), Bowmanville Eagles (OPJHL), Fort McMurray Oil Barons (AJHL), Fort Saskatchewan Traders (AJHL) and Victoria Grizzlies. He registered a total of 91 points (18g, 73a) and 652 penalty minutes in 235 games.

The defenseman is expected to play in Wednesday's game and will wear number 8.
