November 26, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Regina Pats News Release
Langley, B.C. - Drew Sim was the story for the Regina Pats as he made 47 saves as the Pats defeated the Vancouver Giants 3-0 in the club's first game played in British Columbia since November of 2018. A packed house at the Langley Events Centre saw their former netminder Drew Sim collect his second shutout of the season and third of his career for the visitors.
Borya Valis, Tanner Howe, and Sam Oremba scored for the victorious Pats.
Jesper Vikman was also strong in the Giants' net as he stopped 32 of 35 shots in the losing cause.
THE GOALS
First Period
REG 1-0 at 12:47 - Borya Vails (10), assisted by Stanislav Svozil and Alexander Suzdalev (PP) // It was a pretty stretch pass from Svozil to the Giants blueline for Valis who got past the defender and broke in alone, outwaited Jesper Vikman, pulled a nice deke and buried the powerplay marker to give the Pats a 1-0 lead.
Second Period
REG 2-0 at 3:57 - Tanner Howe (11), assisted by Borya Valis and Connor Bedard // Bedard carried the puck deep into the Giants zone and sent a pass to Valis who had trouble corralling the puck. The puck was directed out to the front of the net where the Giants defenceman tried to pick it up, and Howe chipped it away from him and past Vikman to give the Pats a 2-0 lead early in the second period.
Third Period
REG 3-0 at 8:56 - Sam Oremba (3), assisted by Tye Spencer and Tanner Brown // Spencer made a nice move to get the puck deep past a Giants defender, Oremba grabbed the loose puck and chipped it through Vikman to give the Pats a 3-0 lead halfway through the final frame.
