EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips have officially signed forward Lukas Kaplan to a Standard Player Agreement.

"I can't wait to get started with this new chapter of my life," said Kaplan. "I'm very excited to play hockey at the next level with the Everett Silvertips and be a part of this great organization."

Kaplan, an '07-born Spruce Grove, AB native, was selected 130th overall in the sixth round of the 2022 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. He is currently skating with the Northern Alberta Xtreme, where he has collected nine goals and 13 assists through 13 games played split between the U17 and U18 levels.

He skated in 28 games with the Xtreme's U15 Prep team in 2021-22, registering 25 goals and 20 assists in 28 total games with five additional points in four playoff games. Kaplan also participated in the Alberta Cup last season, netting four goals with two assists in five games with Team Alberta Yellow.

"We're very happy to have Lukas join our organization," said Silvertips general manager and head coach Dennis Williams. "He fits our style of play well, bringing good speed, good skill and a high compete level. He's a well-rounded individual, playing a 200-foot-game while at the same time being the kind of high-character teammate we look for in Everett. We're looking forward to working with him and continuing his development."

"Lukas is a tenacious player with good skill and offensive ability," commented Silvertips assistant general manager Mike Fraser. "He's hard on pucks and continues to trend in the right direction. We're excited to have Lukas as a part of the Silvertips' future."

By signing a WHL Standard Player Agreement, Kaplan is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL.
