Silvertips Too Good for Blades on Mitch Love Night
November 23, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
Everett, WA - The Saskatoon Blades were outclassed by the Silvertips in Everett 6-1 on Friday night, as the home team celebrated Blades' Head Coach Mitch Love's playing and coaching career in Everett.
The Blades would strike first through 17-year-old Czech blueliner Radek Kucerik, who cleanly beat Silvertips' netminder Dustin Wolf with a snipe from the point. Kucerik was set up cleanly via a Riley McKay pass following a Chase Wouters' face-off win.
Everett then piled on the next six goals of the game, including four power play goals in a row, to round out a relentless 6-1 home team victory.
Contrasting with the Silvertips' special teams efficiency, Saskatoon went 3/8 on the penalty kill and 0/2 on the power play.
Wouters led the way for the Blades at the face-off dot, winning 18 draws, while Matej Toman battled hard and led the team in shots on goal with four.
Saskatoon are back in action again immediately on Saturday night for their second game in a three-in-three weekend. Their opponent: the Seattle Thunderbirds in Kent, Washington. Puck drop is at 8:05pm CST.
The Blades next home game is on December 7th for Girls Rock! Night against the Kelowna Rockets, featuring a pre-game empowerment talk from NASCAR Pinty's Series Driver Shantel Kalika & the Saskatoon Valkyries of the WWCFL.
