Prince George Cougars News Release
EVERETT, WA- The Everett Silvertips came out of the blocks running on Saturday in their 6-3 win over the Prince George Cougars at the Angel of the Winds Arena. The Silvertips scored three times in the opening 20-minutes, en route to sweeping the four-game season series.
The Cougars, who arrived in Everett in the early hours of Saturday morning after a win in Kamloops Friday, looked heavy-legged and the Silvertips capitalized in the first frame. Everett scored twice in 16-seconds to go up 2-0 and padded their lead to 3-0 before the first period came to an end. The Silvertips outshot the Cougars 24-8 in the opening frame.
Making matters worse for the Cougars was the Silvertips' red-hot power-play, scoring on its first three chances of the game.
Everett built up a 4-0 lead before the Cougars got on the scoresheet. Matéj Toman scored in the second period to make it 4-1 at that point and scored his second of the night in the third. His first two goals since January 20th. Josh Maser scored his team-leading 24th of the season in the final frame as well. Reid Perepeluk chipped in offensively with a pair of assists.
Isaiah DiLaura started the game but was replaced by Taylor Gauthier at the start of the second period, after DiLaura surrendered three goals on 24-shots. Gauthier stopped 20 of 23-shots over the final two periods.
Dustin Wolf picked up the win in the Silvertips' crease, turning aside 18 of 19 shots through two periods, before turning the net over to Max Palaga in the third.
Bryce Kindopp scored twice for the Silvertips and Wyatte Wylie, Zack Andrusiak, Jackson Berezowski and Robbie Holmes added singles. Everett rebounding Saturday night after a 3-2 overtime loss to Seattle on Friday.
