Americans Lose Close Battle with Chiefs 2-1

The Americans traveled to Spokane today for game nine of this season's twelve game series against the Chiefs.

Scoring started slow in tonight's rivalry matchup. The first period finished tied at zero with the Chiefs out shooting the Americans 9-6.

Krystof Hrabik took a hooking penalty at 9:19 second period. Spokane's Adam Beckman was able to capitalize on the power play to put the Chiefs on the board first. Americans captain Nolan Yaremko responded at 16:33 with a goal assisted by Parker AuCoin and Riley Sawchuk.

Spokane's Eli Zummack tallied the game-winning goal at 3:32 to seal Spokane's third win over Tri-City this season.

With tonight's victory the Chiefs tie the Americans' 69 points in the division playoff standings.

Tri-City finished 0 for 3 on the power play and Spokane 1 for 4.

Beck Warm played his 100th WHL game in net tonight. He stopped 28 of 30 shots faced.

The Americans match up against the Chiefs again next Saturday at the Toyota Center.
