Everett Silvertips News Release

RED DEER, Alberta - Brandon Hagel scored a goal and added a pair of assists to fuel the Red Deer Rebels rally with four unanswered goals, defeating the Everett Silvertips 4-1 before a crowd of 7,005 at Enmax Centrium on Saturday.

Everett dropped back-to-back losses for the first time since Dec. 19-27, which fueled a run of 9-0-2 in 11 games. Graham Millar earned the only Silvertips goal, opening the scoring early in the period. Everett finished a stretch of ten games in 15 days, going 6-2-2 while allowing just two goals per game over the stretch.

With the help of Seattle's 5-2 loss to Portland, the Silvertips maintained a five point lead for first place in the U.S. Division.

Millar put the Silvertips ahead, 1-0 at 1:48 of the first period on his screen at the net which caught Noah Juulsen's wrister from the center point position. The Silvertips engaged Red Deer into three minor penalties in the first period with the 1-0 lead intact, carrying a 9-5-1-1 record when leading after one period.

But Red Deer roared back with three goals in the middle frame to swipe the lead, 3-1 after two periods. Newcomer Adam Helewka, former Spokane Chief, finished a tap-in at the right post from Michael Spacek's wide-open set-up at the left circle for a 1-1 tie at 5:15. Colten Bobyk then hammered his 13th goal through traffic, a power play goal, at 8:59 to give the Rebels a 2-1 lead.

Jeff de Wit's wrister was then turned away by Carter Hart, but Grayson Pawlenchuk stashed the rebound from the left circle for a 3-1 lead with seven minutes left in the period.

Pawlenchuk then set up Hagel's backhander at the crease with 4:55 elapsed in the third period to finish the scoring with a 4-1 lead.

Hart took the loss with 21 saves. Trevor Martin, spelling Red Deer's number one goalie Rylan Toth, made 28 stops.
