Shortridge came back out to pitch the ninth and try for a complete game win. Bigbie opened the inning by reaching on a throwing error by the third baseman Finol. Jace Jung then blistered a line drive into the right-center field gap but was thrown out by Chavez Young advancing to second on the single. It moved Bigbie to third. He then scored on Dillon Dingler's sacrifice fly, which made it 3-2. Shortridge struck out Corey Joyce to finish the complete game effort.
Shortridge (7-7) earned the win. Wolf (3-3) took the loss.
Erie and Altoona continue the series on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. with Brant Hurter opposing Jackson Wolf.
