T.J. Baxter had four RBI as the Delmarva Shorebirds pounded out 18 hits on their way to a 10-5 win over the Lexington Legends Friday night at Applebee's Park.

Baxter, who had three hits, led off the game with a line drive single to right field. After Tyler Kelly flied out, Baxter stole second base and later scored on a double by Kieron Pope.

Lexington tied the score in the bottom of the first when leadoff hitter Jose Altuve connected for his 11th home run of the season.

Delmarva took the lead for good in the second inning. With two outs and the bases empty, the bottom of the Delmarva lineup ignited a three-run rally. A single by Justin Dalles, batting eighth, and a double by number nine hitter Garabez Rosa, put runners at second and third. Baxter's single scored both runners, and a double by Tyler Kelly brought home Baxter, giving Delmarva a 4-1 lead.

The Shorebirds sent nine batters to the plate in the third inning. After Kieron Pope flied out to center field, Steve Bumbry lined a single to right.

A single by Omar Casamayor put runners on first and second. Lexington starter Zach Grimmett then issued a walk to Mikey Planeta to load the bases. Dalles lined a single up the middle off Grimmett's glove, scoring Bumbry.

After Grimmett was relieved by Colton Pitkin, a double to left field by Garabez Rosa scored Casamayor and Planeta, increasing the lead to 7-1. Baxter then singled to left field, scoring Dalles and Rosa, giving Delmarva a 9-1 lead.

Lexington scored two runs in the fourth on RBI hits by Jonathan Meyer and Rene Garcia to close the gap to 9-3, but the Shorebirds added a run in the top of the fifth to push the lead to 10-3. The Legends scored twice in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI double by Jake Goebbert and a bases-loaded walk to Miguel Arrendell, but they left the bases loaded, and there was no further scoring in the game.

Delmarva's Brian Parker picked up the win (2-1), pitching two and one-third shutout innings in relief and striking out two. Lexington starter Zach Grimmett (4-1) suffered his first loss of the season. He allowed nine hits and eight earned runs in two and two-thirds innings. The four-game series is now tied 1-1, and resumes Saturday at 7:05pm at Applebee's Park.
