HICKORY, NC - C Vinny DiFazio led the Hickory Crawdads past the Kannapolis Intimidators with a bases-loaded walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth to win the ballgame, 3-2, before 3,232 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Friday night. RF Jared Prince extended his hitting streak to 17 games and CF Jared Bolden smacked his third home run of the season.

With the score tied, 2-2, going into the bottom of the ninth inning, the Crawdads (59-44, 19-14) wasted no time mounting a rally against Intimidators reliever RHP Taylor Thompson (0-1, 2.70 ERA). Bolden and Prince led off the frame with back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners with no outs. After DH Zach Zaneski was intentionally walked to load the bases, DiFazio stepped up to the plate and laced a walk-off single to center field, plating Bolden for the winning run, 3-2.

While Hickory had the late heroics, it was Kannapolis (46-57, 15-19) who got on the board first with an early run in the opening inning against 'Dads starter RHP Jake Brigham. With two outs in the inning, LF Kyle Colligan drew a walk and stole second base to get in scoring position for 1B Ian Gac. Gac followed with an RBI double to right field to score Colligan and give the Intimidators a 1-0 lead.

Kannapolis added another run in the fifth inning to double its lead. After C Miguel Gonzalez doubled with one out, 2B Daniel Wagner hit a two-out RBI single to center field to bring him in and increase the Intimidators advantage to 2-0.

Hickory evened the score in the sixth against Intimidators starter RHP Andre Rienzo. With two outs and 2B Travis Adair on at first, Bolden launched a two-run homer to right field, knotting the score at 2-2.

DiFazio then ended the game in dramatic fashion with his bases-loaded walkoff single for the 3-2 Crawdads victory.

RHP Ovispo De Los Santos (1-0, 1.74 ERA) picked up the win for the Crawdads with two perfect innings of relief. Brigham lasted seven frames, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out three. Thompson was handed the loss for Kannapolis.
