LAKEWOOD, NJ -- A big fourth inning for the bats, and a solid night for the arms propelled the BlueClaws to a 5-3 win over the West Virginia Power Friday night.

Five of Lakewood's eight hits, and four of their five runs came in the fourth. Trailing 2-1 Jonathan Singleton picked up a lead-off base knock, and Sebastian Valle doubled to put two runners in scoring position.

Michael Dabbs then hit a sacrifice fly to bring in one run and tie the game, and an RBI single by Stephen Batts pushed the BlueClaws (23-12) ahead. Jeremy Barnes added an RBI triple, and Anthony Hewitt scored on an error by rightfielder David Rubenstein to give the Claws a 5-2 lead they would not relinquish.

In the pitching department, Lakewood starter Jonathan Pettibone (4-5) let up just four hits and three runs (two earned) in seven innings. Luke Wertz locked up the late innings with his second save of the season, throwing two scoreless.

The BlueClaws are now a season high 25 games over .500, and lead the South Atlantic League North Division by three games over the Hickory Crawdads.

Lakewood took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Singleton, but the Power (14-21) came back with two in the third. One run scored on a throwing error by Leandro Castro and the other came in on a ground out by Rubenstein.

After the Claws four-run fourth the Power cut the deficit to two when Rubenstein grounded into a 6-6-3 double play with the bases loaded and no outs, but Jarek Cunningham would fly out to right to end the threat.

Saturday at 7:05 pm the BlueClaws will wrap up the homestand with RHP Brody Colvin (5-6, 3.33) going up against Power RHP Quinton Miller (1-1, 10.80).
