HICKORY, NC - Vinny DiFazio sent the fans home happy as he hit a walk off single with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to give the Hickory Crawdads a 3-2 win in the second game of the series against the Kannapolis Intimidators.

Tied at two in the bottom of the ninth, Jared Bolden singled to lead off the inning followed by another single by Jared Prince before an intentional walk loaded the bases. Against Taylor Thompson, who worked a clean eighth inning, DiFazio hit a fly ball that one-hopped the wall in center to produce the game-winning run in walkoff fashion.

Andre Rienzo started the game and worked well for the Intimidators (15-19) as he had gone 5.2 scoreless innings to run his streak to 27 straight innings without a run allowed. However, with a runner on and two outs in the sixth, Rienzo allowed a two-run home run to Bolden on a two-strike pitch to end the streak and tie the game at two. He went seven with eight strikeouts one walk and three hits allowed, another strong start for Rienzo.

Jake Brigham started the game for the Crawdads (19-14) and pitched well. He allowed a first-inning double to Ian Gac with two outs to score Kyle Colligan and a two-out single after a Miguel Gonzalez double in the fifth and that was it. He also worked seven innings in a no decision and allowed five hits. In relief Ovispo De Los Santos picked up the win as he worked two perfect innings in the eighth and ninth with four strikeouts.

The loss ties the series up at one game each and is the first in the last eight times the Intimidators had scored first in a ballgame.

The series continues on Saturday at 7:00 pm with Ryan Buch who is coming off a seven-inning one-hitter of the Asheville Tourists and he will be opposed by Braden Tullis at LP Frans Stadium in Hickory, NC.
