Pettibone- Allowed 2 R on 3 H with 0 BB and 3 K over 7.0 IP in 7/24 ND @ CSC (8-7 LWD in 18)

LAST NIGHT: West Virginia coould not hold on to a 6-0 lead and lost 7-6 at Lakewood in walkoff fashion. The Power scored three in the fourth, two in the fifth in a Jarek Cunningham home run, and added a run in the sixth. The BlueClaws plated five in the home half of the sixth inning, and then scored the tying and winning runs in the ninth on a double by Keoni De Renne. West Virginia starter Philip Irwin struck out nine batters over five and a third but took a no-decision.

RUNNING WILD: Evan Chambers stole three bases Wednesday, setting a new single-game high by any Power player this season. On six different occasions, a West Virginia baserunner stole two bags in a game, but Chambers become the first player since Adenson Chourio swiped three bases on June 28, 2009 at Greensboro. David Rubinstein also stole a base on Wednesday, give the club a new single-game season best of four steals in any individual contest.

WITH HONORS: Phillip Irwin was named the South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for his efforts from July 19 through 25. The right-hander made one appearance during that span, pitching seven no-hit innings on Saturday at Hagerstown. Irwin is the second Power pitcher to be honored this month, as Nathan Baker was name Pitcher of the Week from July 5 though 11. Coincidentally or not, Baker's award winning week also included a no-hit bid (eight innings @ HAG on July 6). Irwin and Baker are the only two Power players to be honored by the SAL this season.

ROSTER ROULETTE ROLLS ON: Teddy Fallon was promoted back to the Power roster earlier today from State College, while Justin Ennis was transferred back to the Spikes roster. This is Fallon's second stint in the last week on the West Virginia roster, although he has not pitched in a South Atlantic League yet. Ennis has appeared in two games for the Power, going 0-1 with a blown save and a 10.12 ERA.

WALK THIS WAY: Evan Chambers has walked 81 times this year to lead the South Atlantic League. Chambers is tied for third across all of Minor League Baseball, trailing only Kila Ki'aihue of Omaha (86) and Conner Crumbliss of Kane County (86). Chambers two walkes ahead of Vincent Belnome from Lake Elsinore. Comparatively speaking, Prince Fielder leads Major League Baseball with 69 walks in 103 games. Chambers has played in 95 this year.

POWER POINTS: Jairo Marquez has a seven game hitting streak, having reached on a base hit in every Power game he has played in this season... The Power have hit 23 home runs this month, three off their season-best of 26 in June. The staff ERA is nearly one run lower this month compared to June, but still over one run higher than the staff's May ERA... Brett Lorin will make his second start of the year for West Virigina in tonight's game.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh lost 9-3 at Colorado... Indianapolis beat Syracuse 4-1... Altoona lost the series opner at Richmond, falling 4-1 to the Flying Squirrels... Bradenton upended Lakeland 18-5. Six of the nine hitters in the lineup had multiple hits... State College fell 1-0 at Williamsport.
