ON THE LINE: The Shorebirds go for win number 1,000 in the history of the franchise. Matt Hobgood, Orioles first round selection in 2009, makes his second start of the season.

ONE FROM 1,000: With the 15th Anniversary Season in full swing, the 'Birds are one wins shy of reaching 1,000. The 'Birds have accumulated 999 wins since the franchise started in 1996. The Shorebirds are 999-950 over the last 14 years. They have posted a .500 or better record in nine of the 14 years.

EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT: The Shorebirds have recorded 39 extra base through the first seven games of the season. They have 27 doubles, 7 home runs and five triples. More than half of their hits have been extra base hits. The 'Birds have hit 37 singles of the season.

50 RUNS: The Shorebirds have scored 50 runs in seven games (7.14 per). Only the Asheville Tourists (54 runs) have scored more than the Shorebirds. It took the 2009 Shorebirds 14 games to reach 50 runs.

'BIRDS DIG THE LONG BALL: The Shorebirds rank second in the South Atlantic League with seven home runs. The Shorebirds hit three last night. It took the 2009 Shorebirds team 28 games to record seven home runs. The Shorebirds have hit a home run in four of the seven games this season.

SEVEN STRAIGHT GAMES: Shorebirds leadoff man T.J. Baxter has scored at least one run in all seven games this season. He ranks second in the league in runs scored with nine.

STARTING STRONG: The Shorebirds starting staff has been stellar through seven games and 32.1 innings. They have allowed only 31 hits and nine earned runs. Three starters have already gone without allowing an earned run (Beal, 4/11; Butler, 4/12; Cowan, 4/14)

ROSA ROUNDS FIRST: Shortstop Garabez Rosa has five doubles through three games in the series against Greensboro. He is tied with Baxter for the team lead with six two-baggers on the season.

FORMER 'BIRD MAHONEY UPDATE: Joe Mahoney has 11 RBIs for the Frederick Keys through six games in the Carolina League. Last night in Myrtle Beach, he went 2-3 with four RBIs. Ron Welty connected on two home runs against the Pelicans on 4/13.
