Savannah, GA - The Savannah Sand Gnats (4-4) snapped their four-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Augusta GreenJackets (6-2) on Thirsty Thursday at Historic Grayson Stadium.

The Gnats scored in the bottom of the first, taking their first lead of the series. In the first, Rafael Fernandez walked with one out, advanced to third on a Wilmer Flores single to right and scored on a Jeff Flagg sacrifice fly to right field.

Savannah extended its lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second. Dock Doyle led off the frame with a walk. Cesar Puello followed with a single to right field that Augusta rightfielder Jose Medina let bounce by him and roll all the way to the wall for a two-base error. The error allowed Doyle to score from first and Puello to land on third base. Puello then scored on an RBI groundout by DH Alex Gregory. After the GreenJackets scored in the top of the fifth, the Gnats completed the game's scoring in the bottom half of the inning when Flores singled through the hole on the left side of the infield, driving home third baseman Rylan Sandoval. Flores finished 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Gnats starter Mark Cohoon improved to 2-0 by holding Augusta to one run on four hits in six innings. The Gnats bullpen combined on three scoreless innings of relief.

The Gnats hit the road for eight games after tonight, visiting division rivals Rome and Augusta for four games each. The Gnats radio broadcast on News/Talk 630 and www.sandgnats.com will begin at 7 pm, Friday night.
