
Cannon, Taylor To Return For Opening Night; Legends To Be In 'Formal Attire'

Two special guests who led the first Lexington Legends team to the South Atlantic League championship in 2001 will be at Applebee's Park Friday night to help the Legends celebrate the opening of their 10th season.
J.J. Cannon, named national Manager of the Year in 2001 after guiding the Legends to 96 wins, will throw a ceremonial first pitch before the Legends' home opener.
Charley Taylor, who served as Legends' pitching coach from 2001 through 2008, will also throw a ceremonial pitch.
"As we celebrate the 10th year of Lexington Legends baseball at Applebee's Park, how fitting it is to bring back and honor two fan favorites and Legends Hall of Famers to kick off this year-long recognition of the love affair between the Legends and all of our wonderful fans," said Legends President and CEO Alan Stein.
Legends' players will be in "formal" attire for opening night. The players will wear specially designed tuxedo jerseys for the game against the Greenville Drive.
"Our 'formal attire' is a true testament to the entertainment and fun Minor League Baseball provides," said Legends General Manager Andy Shea. "This is an experience we are truly happy to bring to Central Kentucky."
Other opening night highlights:
-60-degree guarantee - If the temperature is below 60 degrees at the time of the first pitch, each fan in attendance will receive a voucher for a ticket to another 2010 home game, based on availability.
-Victory guarantee and "Save the 'stache" - If the Legends lose on opening night, President/CEO Alan Stein will shave his mustache for the first time in 40 years.
