Shaved Heads, Wild Wigs, Great Cause: W.I.G. Walk & Run 5K August 25

(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Shaved heads and wild wigs are sure to be on display Saturday at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

The Whitaker Insurance Group and the Lexington Legends invite all walkers and runners to participate in this year's W.I.G. Walk & Run 5K. The event will take place Saturday, August 25 at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and the race will start at 9 a.m. The course will begin and end at the ballpark with a portion of the route on the Legacy Trail. A portion of the $30 registration fee will benefit St. Baldrick's in its effort to fight cancer in children, as well the local Lexington arts council, LexArts, for the promotion of the arts through local support of art organizations and programs.

"We're thrilled to partner for the second year in a row with the Whitaker Insurance Group & LexArts to host this 5K and raise money for such a great organization in St. Baldrick's," said Legends General Manager Seth Poteat. We've also received great support from WLEX-18, Clear Channel & Health & Wellness Magazine to really take this year's event to the next level and make it even better than 2011!"

W.I.G. and the Legends welcome family and friends to join together and register. The event is intended to be a "fun run" for a great cause. St. Baldrick's will be on site shaving heads of the willing and race participants are encouraged to bring and wear a wig of their choice. Pink hair, purple hair, curly hair, no hair... anything goes! Kid-friendly activities, such as inflatables, will be available, and there will be an autograph session with Legends players and "Big L."

Race participants also have the opportunity to attend the Healthy Living Fair presented by Health & Wellness Magazine and can participate in an outdoor Zumba class presented by Urban Active Fitness! The Healthy Living Fair will feature more than 30 nutrition and health booths by local businesses-grab goodies, info, and samples!
