SF Bulls Earn Wild 6-5 Overtime Win against Alaska

SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Bulls (13-18-4-1) clawed back from a 3-0 deficit to earn a 6-5 overtime against the Alaska Aces (20-9-2-1), Friday at the Cow Palace. Dean Ouellet scored the overtime winner to propel the Bulls to victory. Ouellet finished with two goals and an assist, Dale Mitchell recorded four points (2 goals, 2 assists) and Jordan Morrison had three points (2 goals, 1 assist).

Just 18 seconds into the contest, the Aces jumped out to a 1-0 lead. Eli Zuck scored the tally. Tommy Mele and Peter Sivak registered assists. They added two more in the span of 1:25. Sivak scored the first, shorthanded, and Drew Mackenzie notched the second. The goals came with 6:23 and 4:58 remaining in the first respectively. Through 20 minutes, Alaska led, 3-0. They out-shot the Bulls, 16-8.

After a shaky first period, the Bulls exploded in the second period. The Bulls scored four goals in the span of 1:31 to take a 4-3 lead. Morrison got San Francisco on the board, sweeping a forehand past a diving Gerald Coleman. Brett Findlay and Mitchell had helpers at the goal at 8:49. Then, in the span of 49 seconds, the Bulls stunned the Aces by scoring three more times to take a 4-3 lead. Mitchell scored at 9:31 and 9:48. Just 32 seconds later, Ouellet joined the scoring party. Ouellet, Eriks Sevcenko, Findlay, Sebastian Stalberg and Riley Brace had assists on the flurry of goals. Alaska tied the game up at 4-4 on a tally from Tim Coffman, with 6:28 remaining in the second period. San Francisco responded again. Morrison scored his second of the period to give the Bulls the lead once again. The score, coming with 2:43 left in the second, was assisted by Mitchell and Tyler Beskorowany. At the end of the hectic second frame, San Francisco led, 5-4.

Early in the third period the Aces tied the game back up. Sivak scored his second of the night on a feed from Mele. The goal came at 2:57. Neither side could find the go-ahead tally in the final 17 minutes of regulation, sending the game to overtime.

In extra time, Morrison deked Coleman out of position, and Ouellet collected the loose puck and scored to win it. The goal came a minute into over time.

Tomorrow the Bulls are back in action for the rubber match of this three game series with Alaska. San Francisco will be celebrating their second annual LGBT night. The Bulls will don specialty LGBT jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. A portion of the proceeds will benefit SF Pride. The game starts at 7:30.

Bulletins: Sebastian Stalberg registered his first point with San Francisco...This was the first Bulls win against Alaska at the Cow Palace...The Bulls have won two games this season when trailing by three goals.
