Estero, FL - The South Carolina Stingrays (25-8-1-2) fell to the Florida Everblades (21-11-1-1) 1-0 at Germain Arena Saturday night.

The Everblades buried the only goal of the contest at 10:54 of the first period when former Stingrays forward Parker Stanfield fired a shot under the blocker of goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (L, 16 saves on 17 shots) from the right-wing circle. Everblades forward Mike Merrifield and former Stingrays forward Trevor Bruess picked up the assists.

In the second period, the Stingrays outshot the Everblades 10-5 and led 19-12 through 40 minutes generating numerous scoring chances in front of Everblades netminder Trevor Cann (W, 29 saves on 29 shots), but could not slip an opportunity over the goal line. The Stingrays continued to pressure in the third period adding 10 more shots on goal, but Cann held on for his first shutout of the season. Both teams went 0-for-4 on the power play.

The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum to host the Greenville Road Warriors on Tuesday, January 14 at 7:05 p.m. for 2x2 Tuesday presented by Bud Light! Enjoy $2 beer all game and 2-for-1 tickets at the Coliseum Box Office!
