Sioux City Explorers News Release

Sioux City-----The Explorers scored seven runs in the third inning on their way to an 11-2 victory over Grand Prairie here Friday night. The seven runs were the most the Explorers have scored in one inning this season. In that third frame, the X's had just five hits, with two being doubles. The six doubles in the contest were the most two-baggers the Explorers have had this season also.

Four Explorers had two hits apiece as Eliezer Mesa getting two doubles and two RBI's, newcomer Luke Murton having two hits and two RBI's, Bryan Pounds two doubles and two RBI's and Leugim Barroso getting two hits, including a double and two RBI's. Although Peter Barrows was one for five, the Explorers right fielder extended his hitting streak to seven games.

Jason Jarvis pitched six and two third innings and recorded his fourth win of the season in six decisions.

The victory for the Explorers was their second straight and in those two wins, Sioux City has scored 19 runs.

Derek Blacksher pitched four and two third innings and took the loss for Grand Prairie. The AirHogs were retired in order only once in the game as they stranded ten base runners in having their four game winning streak snapped.

The second game of the three game series will be Saturday night at Lewis and Clark Park with game time set for 7:05.
