Kansas City Monarchs News Release
LINCOLN, Neb. - The Kansas City T-Bones, behind costly mistakes and a struggling bullpen, dropped their second consecutive game on the road trip with a 12-4 loss to Lincoln on Thursday night.
Kansas City took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on Ray Sadler's sixth home run of the season, but the lead would be short lived, as Lincoln proceeded to score 12 straight unanswered runs and take a 12-2 lead after eight innings. The major offensive push came in the sixth inning when the Saltdogs scored six runs, four of which were unearned following two Kansas City errors.
Aaron Meade started the game for Kansas City and went into the fifth, allowing only one hit but walking five. After Meade exited, four Kansas City relief pitchers gave up 10 runs in the final three innings. T-Bones injured starting pitcher Devin Anderson started his comeback, as he pitched one inning and allowed three hits and two earned runs.
Pete Parise (3-2) picked up the win for Lincoln with his complete game effort.
The T-Bones will look to even the series Friday night at Haymarket Park with first pitch scheduled for 7:05. Lucas Irvine (0-2) will start for Kansas City. Mike Burns (1-0) gets the start for Lincoln.
