Gateway Grizzlies News Release

The Gateway Grizzlies are proud to announce that the South Region All-Star team, announced today by the Frontier League features seven Grizzlies players.

Grizzlies outfielders Stephen Holdren and Dustin Roberts join first baseman Mike Breyman, catcher Charlie Lisk and pitchers Toro Trevino, Erik Dessau and Eric Ridener on the South Region squad. Six of the seven players are making their first All-Star appearance. Only Dessau, who was selected last year, has participated in the FL's All-Star Game previously.

Because the league plays in three divisions, the league was divided into regions, North and South for the game. The Grizzlies are part of the South Region, along with the River City Rascals, the Southern (Marion) Illinois Miners, the Evansville Otters, the Florence (Ky.) Freedom, and the Chillicothe (Oh.) Paints.

It was announced yesterday that Grizzlies manager Phil Warren would manage the South team. He earned the right to manage the squad by virtue of his team having the best winning percentage at the break. The Grizzlies currently have a 29-10 record. The club leads the West Division by seven games over the Southern Illinois Miners.

The 15th annual All-Star game will be played at Florence's Champion Window Field July 11.
