Rockford RiverHawks News Release
LOVES PARK, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks and The Power Connection are opening the doors to the entire Rock River Valley on July 15.
Today, the team and the Rockford union-based company announced that The Power Connection has agreed to buy every seat in the stadium and add a postgame fireworks show to the schedule for the RiverHawks' 6:05 p.m. game on Sunday, July 15 against River City.
Any individual can come to Road Ranger Stadium in advance of the game date and pick up to four tickets to share with friends and family, courtesy of The Power Connection.
"We're encouraging the entire community, whether they've never been to a game before, or a fan who's coming back to the stadium for the 20th time, to catch a RiverHawks game," RiverHawks general manager Josh Olerud said.
The Power Connection is the labor-management cooperative committee of the Northern Illinois National Electrical Contractors Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 364.
"For any business that wants to get involved with community goodwill, this is an opportunity we'd like to extend to anyone," Olerud said.
Olerud said he expects a crowd well above the stadium's capacity of 3,279.
"You're not going to be able to show up at 6:05 and come into the ballpark," he said.
The RiverHawks are the Western Division champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007. Advertising, season-ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
