The Somerset Patriots were defeated by the Bowie Baysox by a score of 5-4 on Monday night at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Maryland.
The Patriots came within four outs of their sixth shutout win of the season, before five unearned runs scored for Bowie in the bottom of the eighth inning.
With two first inning home runs, Somerset set a new franchise record with 15 home runs during the six-game series in Bowie.
RHP Yoendrys Gomez (3.0 IP, 0 R, H, 2 BB, 3 K) threw 41 pitches in his seventh start of the season and did not factor into a decision.
1B T.J. Rumfield (2-for-4, 2 RBI, R, HR, K) opened up the scoring with his 15th home run of the season.
C Josh Breaux (1-for-4, RBI, R, K) made his Somerset season debut and homered in his first at-bat, going back-to-back with Rumfield in the top of the first inning.
LHP Edgar Barclay (2.2 IP, 0 R, 3 H, BB, 6 K) set a new season-high with six strikeouts.
With the scoreless outing, Barclay has now begun the season with 16.2 consecutive scoreless innings over seven appearances with 26 strikeouts.
