Sacramento River Cats News Release

The River Cats have already played 15 games this season, posting an 8-7 record (T-1st Pacific Northern). Tomorrow's upcoming series with the Tacoma Rainiers (5-10, 2nd Pacific Northern), however, marks the first time this season that the River Cats will play another Pacific Northern team.

Scouting the Rainiers

Going into Friday's series finale, Tacoma is hitting .269 with 16 home runs and 73 RBIs in 15 games. The Rainiers have actually performed better away from Cheney Stadium to start the season. In eight road games this season, the Rainiers are 3-5 with a .291 team batting average and 54 runs scored. Your River Cats

Sacramento will be returning home after a rough series in El Paso in which the River Cats have dropped the first three of four heading into tonight's game. Starting pitchers Jake Dunning, Braulio Lara, and Austin Fleet were hit hard in their respective outings, surrendering a combined 18 runs in 11.2 innings. After an explosive performance in Salt Lake where the team recorded a total of 30 runs on 58 hits in four games, the River Cats' offense took a step backward in El Paso. The team is hitting .238 over their last three games and a miniscule .083 with runners in scoring position. INF Adam Duvall continues to shine early in the season, leading the team in batting average (.419) and RBIs (16). His four home runs are tied with OF Jarrett Parker for the team lead.

Players to Watch

Like the River Cats, Tacoma is carrying a number of players with significant Major League experience. INF/OF Carlos Quentin has compiled 154 home runs over 834 Major League games with the San Diego Padres, Chicago White Sox, and Arizona D'Backs while putting together a .252/.347/.484 triple slash line.

For Sacramento, right-handed reliever Curtis Partch will look to continue his success out of the bullpen. Partch has appeared in 6 games (T-2nd) while throwing 8 scoreless innings and tallying 10 strikeouts for a 11.25 K/9 (4th). His 0.88 is second on the team.

Matchup History
