El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas beat Sacramento 6-1 Friday to complete a sweep of the River Cats. It was El Paso's first series sweep since August 24-27, 2014 when the club swept Colorado Springs.

Sacramento pieced together three straight singles in the first inning, including an RBI hit by outfielder Jarrett Parker. The River Cats' first inning run was the first time all series Sacramento held a lead. Brett Wallace hit a two-run home run off the right-center field scoreboard in the bottom of the first to give the Chihuahuas a 2-1 lead. Pitcher Jason Lane helped his own cause by hitting a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the second to make the score 3-1.

Tommy Medica hit a two-out RBI double in the bottom of the fourth to put El Paso ahead 4-1. Ramiro Pena rounded the bases on a triple and a throwing error in the fifth, with Alex Dickerson also scoring on the play, to give El Paso a 6-1 lead.

Lane pitched seven innings and allowed just one run. Nick Vincent and Leonel Campos followed Lane with scoreless relief outings. El Paso center fielder Abraham Almonte left the game in the second inning.
