Harrisburg Senators News Release
Manchester, NH - The Harrisburg Senators rallied for two-runs in the top of the ninth inning to defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6-5 and even the three-game series at one apiece.
Carlos Rivero started the rally with a leadoff single. A couple batters later, after a big throwing error on a failed pickoff attempt by Alan Farina, Ricky Hague delivered an RBI single to tie the game. Brian Goodwin's RBI single later in the inning put the Senators in front to stay. Aaron Barrett tossed a scoreless bottom of the ninth to earn his 20th save.
In the second, the Senators took an early lead with their second three-run inning in as many nights. Justin Bloxom and Jimmy VanOstrand led off with back-to-back singles, before Rivero delivered an RBI double to open the scoring. Two batters later, Hague came through with a two-run double.
New Hampshire bounced back right away with two runs in the bottom of the second, taking advantage of a Senators error. The Fisher Cats tied it with a single run in the third, and a solo home run by Kevin Ahren's gave them the lead in the fifth.
Jerad Head led off the sixth with a double and VanOstrand later brought him in with an RBI single to tie the game at four. Andy Burns drove in a run in the seventh with a single to give New Hampshire the lead, after Adam Loewen had tripled to lead off the inning.
Senators starter Nathan Karns tossed six innings and struck out 10, taking a no-decision. The right-hander gave up six hits and three earned runs. Matt Grace earned his fourth win for Harrisburg with an inning of shutout relief. VanOstrand led the Senators with three of their 11 hits. Ricky Hague had two hits and three RBIs.
Tomorrow, the Senators conclude their three-game series in New Hampshire against the Fisher Cats with the rubber game. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:50 p.m.
