Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators' season-long eight-game winning streak came to end Thursday as they lost, 2-0, to the Richmond Flying Squirrels before 4,275 fans at Metro Bank Park. The Senators (38-42) will try to win the four-game series tomorrow night.

Despite some command issues, Austin Voth pitched well again, firing six scoreless innings. The righty threw 101 pitches, 55 of which were strikes, and scattered five hits in his eighth quality start of the season. In his first Double-A appearance, right-hander Wander Suero pitched two scoreless innings before allowing a go-ahead 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning. Suero allowed three hits and walked one in three innings of work.

Meanwhile, the Senators were almost completely shut down by Richmond starter Kelvin Marte. Wilmer Difo led off the bottom of the first with a single, but he was picked off. Marte then retired the next 22 Senators consecutively before Shawn Pleffner doubled with two outs in the eighth inning. Against Richmond closer Derek Law in the ninth, Jose Lozada and Difo both singled with one out but were stranded when Law finished off the inning with two strikeouts.

The Senators finish a seven-game homestand Friday night against Richmond with first pitch coming at 7:00 p.m. The pregame show will start at 6:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
