New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Just days before celebrating America's birthday, the Fisher Cats announced the roster of celebrities who will face the American heroes of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium this month. St. Louis Cardinals pitching great and New Hampshire native Chris Carpenter will lead the team that plays the WWAST on Saturday, July 25, at the home of the Fisher Cats.
Carpenter is joined on the team by a mix of current and former college and professional athletes, civic and business leaders, and radio and television personalities. The group will take to the diamond to play the WWAST, a team comprised of veterans and active duty soldiers who have lost limbs while serving this country, but have recovered to deliver a message of resiliency and determination through their motto, 'Life without a limb is limitless.'
"We are honored to host these American heroes for this special trip to our ballpark this summer," said Rick Brenner, Fisher Cats president and general manager. "Their service to our country leaves us forever in their debt, but to see the way they have recovered from these tragic injuries to persevere and live on is truly inspirational. I know our fans will enjoy saluting these soldiers as they display their athleticism, tenacity, and determination on our field."
The first pitch for the softball game is at noon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. A $10 donation is the price of a ticket, and money raised through ticket sales will benefit the WWAST and, on a local level, Veterans Count, which provides services and financial assistance to veterans and active service members and their families. Tickets are available by visiting the Fisher Cats' website, www.nhfishercats.com, by calling (603) 641-2005, and by visiting the box office at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
