Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning - highlighted by Isaac Ballou's walk-off single - to topple the Akron RubberDucks, 3-2, Wednesday night before a crowd of 5,247 at Metro Bank Park. Harrisburg (54-57) has won four of its last five games.

Austin Voth turned another fine start as he allowed two runs - on a pair of solo home runs - in a career-high eight innings. Voth walked none and struck out six while throwing 97 pitches. The Senators' first run came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Ballou tripled home Jose Lozada to tie the game at 1-1. Akron's Bradley Zimmer untied the game in the seventh with a solo home run, but Harrisburg had a fantastic chance in the eighth inning as Chris Bostick singled, stole second and moved to third on a groundout that represented the first out. However, back-to-back Senators struck out, stranding Bostick at third, and keeping the Senators behind 2-1 entering the ninth.

Against Akron closer Jeff Johnson, who entered Wednesday 19-for-19 in save opportunities, Drew Vettleson and Pedro Severino singled to start the ninth. Jose Lozada then laid down a sacrifice bunt and Johnson threw to third, despite no Akron player covering the base. Vettleson scored on the error and Severino moved to third to set up Ballou. The Senators' outfielder chopped a groundball over a drawn in infield to win the game.

Ballou's game-winning knock made a winner out of Erik Davis, who pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning. All but one Senators' starter had a hit, including two for Ballou and Severino.

The rubber match of a three-game set will begin tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. as Matt Purke will start for the Senators. The pregame show will start at 6:45 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
