Curve Held to Three Hits in 4-1 Loss to Rock Cats

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Altoona Curve were held to just three hits and fell to the New Britain Rock Cats, 4-1, on Wednesday night at New Britain Stadium.

The Curve (58-53) committed four errors in the game as the Rock Cats (53-56) took the second of the three-game set.

After falling behind in the first inning, Sebastian Valle hit an RBI double in the fourth to tie the game, 1-1.

The Rock Cats answered in the bottom of the fourth with a run scoring on a bunt attempt by Joey Wong, who reached safely on an error by first baseman Hunter Morris.

Curve starter Jason Creasy (Loss, 8-6) allowed two earned runs over six innings on just three hits. He struck out five in the game and picked up his fifth consecutive loss.

Former Pirates farmhand Shane Carle (Win, 12-6) surrendered just three hits and allowed one run with eight strikeouts, his second-highest total this season.

After a dropped fly ball in right field by Jose Osuna with two outs, New Britain extended the lead to 4-1 with a two-run homer by Noel Cuevas.

Clario Perez pitched two innings with two strikeouts and allowed two unearned runs.

The Curve and Rock Cats close the series on Thursday afternoon at New Britain Stadium. Right-hander Matt Benedict (4-5, 6.13) takes the mound for Altoona, with right Matt Flemer (6-7, 3.16) pitching for New Britain. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m.
